We are releasing a new MaadiX version with a key improvement: IPv6 support.

The adoption of this protocol is essential due to the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses, which are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. Currently, the monthly cost of an IPv4 address is around 2 euros, whereas IPv6 addresses have no cost. With this update, we are preparing for a future where IPv4 is no longer necessary, allowing us to offer services exclusively over IPv6.

However, its implementation is progressing unevenly worldwide. In Europe, France and Germany lead with an adoption rate close to 70%, while Spain barely reaches 10%. In the Americas, the United States, Canada, and Brazil have approximately 50% adoption.

IPv6 Implementation Map

You can check the interactive map on this page: https://stats.labs.apnic.net/ipv6

One of the main challenges is that the Internet was born without IPv6, meaning there are still devices and networks that do not support this technology. For this reason, an immediate switch is not possible, and a gradual transition is required, where both protocols coexist. The more people use IPv6, the faster its global adoption will progress, paving the way for a fully IPv6-based network. Therefore, we encourage you to consider enabling IPv6 on your server.
