As always, remember that MaadiX does not have access to the servers you provide. This decision is part of our philosophy: your data is exclusively yours, and it is not necessary to share it to use the online services.

For this reason, it is your responsibility to keep the system updated periodically to ensure the security, stability, and proper functioning of the services.

PHP 8.3 Update: what you should know

One of the most relevant changes in this release is the update of the environment to PHP 8.3.

Before applying the update, it is recommended that you verify that all applications hosted on the server are compatible with this version, especially:

  • WordPress and its plugins
    Drupal
    Themes and custom extensions
    Custom-developed applications

PHP 8.3 offers performance improvements, security fixes, and new features.

If your server still contains obsolete PHP code, this is the perfect opportunity to update your websites and ensure everything works with the latest versions.
In recent months, we have observed a significant increase in attacks targeting WordPress installations with outdated or abandoned plugins or themes.

You can check the changes that might be incompatible with previous versions here:

Etherpad v2.5.0

From this release onward, the ep_maadix plugin, which allows creating private groups and pads, will no longer be installed by default, but it can be added manually from the Etherpad admin interface.

Previous installations that already had it will retain it, and it will be updated automatically along with Etherpad.

Jitsi + Coturn

If you have Jitsi installed, coturn will be installed automatically. It acts as a TURN server, whose main function is to ensure that video conferences can be established even when participants are behind NATs or restrictive networks and firewalls that block direct P2P connections. In this way, TURN ensures that everyone can connect and join the call, solving connectivity issues that would otherwise prevent communication.

Other updated applications

In addition to the PHP and Etherpad updates, this release includes updates for the following services:

  • Mastodon v4.5.5
    Nextcloud v32.0.2
    OnlyOffice v9.3
    Control panel (Django 5.2)

The update process has been optimized so you can complete it with a single click from the control panel. It is recommended not to delay updates for too long, as an outdated version may fall out of support.

Releases that are no longer supported can continue receiving updates, but they may cause errors because some required packages may be outdated or unavailable.

If a release stops receiving support, subsequent updates may require manual intervention to resolve issues, which could incur additional costs.

You can consult the lifecycle of the available versions on our website, where the publication and end of life dates of each release are detailed:
